The timetable is out for the revised route number 2 service between Harwich Town Railway Station and Parkeston. From my analysis it does not look good for most users and I can’t see it attracting many new passengers.
The round trip journey time is now over 50 minutes due to a revised route that includes the Vines Estate via a dog leg. There are now only five circular (return) journeys and two one-way journeys. You will be unable to take a bus from Morrisons at Parkeston, or Una Road, into Dovercourt or Harwich after 1330!First in Essex, the bus operator, said this on their website:
From Monday 2nd February, the revised service 2 will additionally serve the section of Main Road to the east of the Parkeston Road junction, calling at the stops adjacent to Dovercourt Hospital, and will then operate via Ashley Road, Douglas Road, The Ridgeway, Deepdale Road and Fryatt Avenue, picking up the existing route at Parkeston Road and continuing towards Morrisons.
As a result of the longer route taken, and the additional time required to deliver a punctual and reliable service, the frequency of the proposed service will be every 60 minutes instead of the current 20 to 40 minute headway. The first journey on Monday to Friday will be at 0900 from Harwich Bus Station.
In other words,the buses do not go down Parkeston Road, from Main Road, and will not call at the stop by the Scout Hut or the one opposite. Additionally, the last two buses do not return from Morrisons.
A potted timetable is as follows:
|All Saints Church||0914||1014||1114||1214||1314||1414||1619|
|Una Rd (via PQ)||0927||1027||1127||1227||1327||1427||1632|
