Click Dovercourt is a group that helps the over 50s use computers and the internet, often for the first time in their lives. With more and more of society and government moving over to the online environment it is important that the older generations do not miss out or get abandoned for the lack of a few simple skills.
I am the lead tutor and chairman of Click Dovercourt as well as a recognised Digital Champion
We meet every Thursday morning (outside of school holidays) at Long Meadows Community Centre in Dovercourt. I’m there from 0915 but the session starts at 10.00 and ends at midday, with a mid-point coffee/tea break. There is a waiting list currently as we have reached the capacity of the room.
The tuition is not based on a course, but rather on the needs of the group. We may spend several sessions on a single topic, until the group as a whole is ready to move on. At other times a simple question from one person can shape a session.
Typical repeat topics are word-processing, printing, copy/cut/paste, handling folders & files, email & email attachments, Skype & digital cameras. I also cover current topics in IT security with advice on staying safe whilst using the internet.
I will try to put coursework on here for both members of the group and anyone else who is interested.
If you’d like to join, or find out more information, please email me at firstname.lastname@example.org You can also come along and meet me at Long Meadows but please be there well before 10.00.
We have now closed for the summer holidays and will reconvene on Thurs 5th September.
